1 in 10 Cornwall Homes Have Solar PV
We were recently asked by a customer how many homes in Cornwall have solar panelling. Turns out there is quite a lot of data on it.
MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) is the leading certification scheme in the UK for domestic renewable electricity generation projects. They have found that as of July 2023 there are 24,123 households in Cornwall with solar panel installations. Which, as the headline might suggest, equates to 1 in 10 households in Cornwall.
This is amazing news! But many say that we need more. The government has set a target to produce 70GW of solar power by 2035. With 1,000,000 homes in the UK now having solar power the growth is going to come from three areas.
Firstly, of course more domestic installations encouraged by the sizable financial benefits of installing solar PV at your home (see our free calculator to find out your savings). Secondly, the increased deployment of large-scale solar arrays in fields which are currently the main force driving solar capacity growth. Finally, the increased utilisation of large commercial spaces (car parks, factories, commercial spaces).
The rate of installing domestic solar panels is some of the highest it has ever been. Find out the benefits you could be missing out by not having solar panels by getting in touch.
