UK: Solar Surges Ahead in Combatting Climate Crisis

Solar PV continues to prove itself as one of the UK's best areas of renewable electricity growth with 1.7 GWp-dc expected to be added by 2023!

Amazing news today from Finlay Colville at Solar Power Portal with the news that the UK is on track to add 1.7GWp-dc of solar PV in 2023. To put that into perspective 1GW can power roughly 750,000 homes! This is a hue amount of greenhouse gases that will be prevented from reaching the atmosphere.

Solar photovoltaics are now not being fuelled mostly by the installation of small-scale domestic solar panel installations (although from our first-hand experience, this demand remains very strong) but is instead driven by the demand from investors in large-scale solar farms. Indeed, some of the world’s leading professional services companies, that often lead the conversation on corporate investment, are putting considerable effort into the deployment of capital for solar PV investment.

We have two things to think for this astounding rise in solar PV power generation in the UK. Firstly, pressure from across the political spectrum has forced the government to pay very close attention to the economic resources being utilised for the development of increased renewable energy infrastructure. This includes a particular focus on solar PV monitoring and reporting. Secondly, as we all know electricity generation costs, and by extension consumer’s bills, continue to skyrocket as it is effected by the Ukraine War and continued general inflation.

Things might seem a little gloomy at the moment. But this is a welcome bit of good news. If you want to do your bit in Cornwall and get involved in the solar PV revolution in the UK then don’t forget to check out our solar panelling and battery storage services.
